How much worse will my acne get when I start using my prescription?

Today I went to the dermatologist and she recommended me to take topical retinoids and benzoyl peroxide. She said that after a month, as the whiteheads and blackheads are brought to the surface, the acne will appear to have worsened, and then i will see results after 6-8 weeks. My acne isn't that bad now, just skin colored bumps, i guess clogged bacteria. Will my acne be noticeably worse?

1. The topical retinoids are blackhead treatment. They work well and occasionally when they do, the pimples temporarily increase. It really is only occasionally. If it happens it is a short term thing and not usually severe. Don't let it stop you from using good treatment.
