How to tell if it is baby acne or a rash?

My daughter has developed a rash on her face and head. The doctor said is was normal but I am not sure. It looks worse by the day and it does not have whiteheads or anything just red and bumpy. She has had it for about 2-3 weeks or so. Some people have said switching formula helped there babies rash. How can you tell if it is a true rash or acne.

1. Could be eczema, my baby has had it since he was a newborn and he is now 5.5 months and still has it...I got some prescription cream for it but I only try to use it when necessary and it helps for a few days but it comes back..

2. Well, I would say that if the Dr said it is acne, it is baby acne.

Look at pics of baby acne on flickr... often times it does not look like acne but a rash.

My son had it and his never always had white heads and often times looked more
like a rash.

PS... You would know if it was eczema because there would be dry, scaly bumpy patches of skin over her entire body. They would feel rough and be very dry.

My son has a bit of that too.

It will go away on it's own. Formula is not causing it.

Just wipe her with a warm, damp washcloth. Do not use soaps lotions or creams on her acne or it will make it worse.

Areas where she will sweat and when it is warm will flare up.

My son got them off on on REALLY bad for about 2 1/2 months. He still gets it time to time when it is hot out but not as bad as he used to an he is 4 months old.
