How can you get rid of "Baby Acne"?

My 3 week old son has a little case of baby acne. I've tried using his baby wash with warm water, and it's not clearing up. I'm afraid to try anything else on my own. It's not a big deal, because I know it will clear up on its own eventually, but it would still be nice to be able to deal with the problem myself. Any ideas?

1. Well, there are some things you should not do. Don't put creams or oils on your baby's skin, because these can make the acne worse. Don't use over-the-counter acne medicines. And don't scrub. Baby acne isn't caused by dirt.

In fact, too much washing can further irritate your baby's skin, so don't overdo the cleansing. Simply wash your baby's face with mild baby soap and water once a day. Gently pat it dry.

Patience is usually the best course of action. Your baby's acne doesn't bother him in the least, so try not to let it bother you, either.

2. Its because of your extra hormones comming out of his little body. It should clear up on its own by the time he is 6 weeks. Till then just keep him clean. Anything else on his sensitive skin will make it worse.

3. Have you tried using soap with the wipe? Its bacteria-you need you wash him good and constantly clean his face with an anti-bacterial soap

4. its not a problem leave his skin alone its normal its just there bodys way of getting rid of ur excess hormones they have in there body after the birth it will clear up on its own and after the acnes gone there skin starts to dry up on there eyebrows and forhead it takes about 4 months for there bodys to ajust to the outside world

5. Leave it alone. It'll clear up on its own. My son had this & I rushed him to the pediatrician in a major panic, thinking my son had some kind of unexplained rash. His pediatrician told me baby acne will clear up on its own.

Don't use baby oil on his face. Use a mild lotion, like Johnson's instead. Don't scrub at it, pick at it or otherwise damage the area. Gently wash his face with a mild soap once a day; Dove for sensitive skin is safe for babies, or other soap like Gerber, Huggies, Johnson's, etc. Gently pat his face dry, then apply the lotion.

It's not bacteria like someone posted. It IS the leftover hormones from you clearing themselves up on his skin.

6. When my daughter was that age we had the same problem and her entire face was broken out and red. Our pediatrician had us put hydrocortisone cream on the spots to help reduce them and to ease the itch. Please talk to your pediatrician before doing this. The other thing that we found that helped keep the redness down was cool cloths. I just blotted a cool wet baby wash cloth on her face. You are right that it will clear up on its own but it will take some time.

7. in a month they will go away on their own and he will have clean skin. to help it along just wash his face with water a few times a day, no soap or oils, just water. Their skin is just too gentile and you can hurt it by doing something. The pictures will be cute with or without acne.
