Can I start birth control before my period to cure acne?

Okay, so I just got some orthotricycline to cure my mild acne and was wondering if it would be okay to start taking the pill now rather than wait untill I get my period, which will be in a few weeks. I'm not taking the pill to be sexually active. or anything Just to cure my acne. Anyone know if that would be okay to do??
